Texas at Alabama: 2023 SEC football Week 2 game preview, prediction
In the best game of the week, the Tide face off against Texas in a near Top 10 matchup. What does Alabama need to do in order to win this game?
TV schedule: September 9th, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. on ESPN
Location: Bryant-Denny Stadium
The Alabama Crimson Tide go into this game after beating Middle Tennessee in a blowout. Jalen Milroe has been able to secure the QB job for the game against Texas and could keep it if he is able to play complimentary football. The strength of this football team is their defense.
The best part of their defense is the secondary which is led by Caleb Downs and Kool-Aid McKinstry. The Tide will be going against a complete Texas Longhorns team that has high hopes after winning 8 games last season. Quinn Ewers is one of the better QB’s in the country.
Ewers was leading the charge toward a Texas victory over the Tide last season but got injured during the game. The Longhorns almost ended up winning the game without Ewers at QB.
When it comes to this game, Texas will have the better QB but Alabama has the better roster by a small margin. Texas’s defense is not as good as last season but the Tide aren’t the same on the offensive side as well.
Prediction: Texas: 21 Alabama: 24
It was really hard to pick this game. As I said Alabama has the better team, but Texas has the better QB. If Milroe is able to play well in this matchup, then the Tide will be able to win this matchup. Ewers will have his hands full with Alabama’s secondary.
No matter who wins this game, it will be extremely close. Still, Alabama is home and the energy will be loud on crucial offensive downs for Texas. When the talent ability is so close, it is not smart to pick against the team that is home and has one of the best defenses in the country.
