SEC Football: Slight Movement in Week 3 SEC QB Power Rankings
12. Brady Cook (Missouri)
Previous ranking: 12
Missouri struggled to get much going on offense in a close 23-19 win over Middle Tennessee. While Cook was not really the issue (the Tigers averaged under 3 yards per rush), he did not get many chances to get things going. For the game, Cook went 14-of-19 passing for 204 yards and 3 total TD’s (2 passing, 1 rushing). On the year, Cook has a 77.5% completion percentage (31/40), 376 passing yards, 5 total TD’s (3 passing, 2 rushing), and 0 INT’s.
Next week, Missouri will host top 15 Kansas State at Noon Eastern. This is a big test for Mizzou as they are hosting the defending Big 12 champs and a talented QB in Will Howard.
11. AJ Swann (Vanderbilt)
Previous ranking: 11
In a game featuring several lengthy weather delays, Vanderbilt suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 36-20 to Wake Forest. Vandy was in the game in the 2nd half (trailed by 2 TD’s for most of it), but couldn’t pull it out. Swann was effective moving the ball, but had a few turnovers that proved costly. Swann ended up going 26-of-39 through the air for 314 yards, 3 passing TD’s, and 2 INT’s.
Still one game ahead of the rest of the SEC QB’s, Swann has season totals of a 61.2% completion percentage (60/98 passing), 766 passing yards, 9 total TD’s (8 passing, 1 rushing), and 3 INT’s through three games.
Up next, Vandy will hit the road as they travel out west to take on UNLV at 7:00 pm Eastern in their final non-conference game of the year. Swann and the ‘Dores will be hoping to start the year 3-1 for the second consecutive season.
