SEC Football: Rattler, Cook, Mertz Rise in Week 4 QB Power Rankings
2. KJ Jefferson (Arkansas)
Previous Ranking: 2
Jefferson was not the only reason that Arkansas fell 38-31 to BYU on Saturday, but he didn’t have his best game either. It was an up-and-down game. He ended up going 24/35 through the air for 247 passing yards, 21 rushing yards, 1 passing TD, and 1 INT (he also lost a fumble). For the season, Jefferson has a 71.4% completion percentage (55/77 passing), 629 passing yards, 80 rushing yards, 7 total TD’s (6 passing, 1 rushing), and 1 INT.
Here we have another clash of some of the top QB’s in the SEC on Saturday as well, as arguably the conference’s top two signal callers will go head-to-head. Jefferson and Arkansas will head into Death Valley to take on Jayden Daniels and LSU Saturday night at 7:00 pm Eastern. A strong performance would bode large for Jefferson.
1. Jayden Daniels (LSU)
Previous Ranking: 1
What a performance from Jayden Daniels on Saturday. Daniels not only had the best game of any SEC football quarterback, he was arguably the best QB in the country on Saturday as LSU beat Mississippi State 41-14. Daniels was 30/34 through the air for 361 passing yards, 64 rushing yards, and 4 total TD’s (2 passing, 2 rushing). On the year, Daniels has a 73.7% completion percentage (70/95 passing), 976 passing yards, 157 rushing yards, 10 total TD’s (8 passing, 2 rushing), and 1 INT.
As I just mentioned, Daniels and LSU will host Jefferson and Arkansas Saturday night as they look to start 2-0 in SEC football play. Daniels could go a long way towards putting a clamp on this top spot with a strong performance and a win Saturday night.
