Likely the game of the week in SEC football this weekend comes in Tuscaloosa, AL, as the Alabama Crimson Tide welcome the Ole Miss Rebels for a Top 15 matchup. A head-to-head matchup which Alabama has owned recently, the Crimson Tide have won seven-straight over the Rebels, with Ole Miss’ last win coming back in 2015 in Tuscaloosa.

Led by head coach Nick Saban, Alabama comes into Saturday sitting at No. 13 in the AP Poll, while also sitting at 2-1 overall this season. After falling at home to Texas in Week 2 by a score of 34-24, Alabama would bounce back with a 17-3 road win at South Florida last Saturday in a game where the Crimson Tide struggled at times.

Alabama’s offense is averaging 32.3 PPG so far this season, and are led by a talented running back room featuring the likes of Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams. The quarterback position so far in 2023 has featured each of Jalen Milroe, Tyler Buchner, and Ty Simpson, while the receiving game is led by the likes of Isaiah Bond, Jermaine Burton, and Amari Niblack, among others.

Defensively, the Crimson Tide are allowing 14.7 PPG to opponents across three games, a number that is among the best in SEC football. Leading the Crimson Tide in tackles is the duo of Deontae Lawson and Caleb Downs with 20+ each, while both Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell also have a pair of sacks this season to rank among Alabama’s leaders.

Led by head coach Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss enters Saturday sitting at No. 15 in the latest AP Poll, and own an undefeated record at 3-0 so far this season. On top of their 48-23 home win over Georgia Tech this past weekend, the Rebels have also defeated both Mercer and Tulane so far this season.

One of the nation’s top offensive teams so far this season, Ole Miss enters Saturday averaging a total of 52.7 PPG (No. 4 in NCAA), and are led by dual-threat quarterback Jaxson Dart, as well as arguably the SEC’s top running back in Quinshon Judkins. Averaging 526.7 YPG of total offense as well, the Rebels also have other names to know on offense that include wide receivers Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, and Dayton Wade.

The Rebels defense is allowing 16.7 PPG to opponents so far, and have one player with 20 tackles in Trey Washington, while Khari Coleman and Ashanti Cistrunk are not far behind with 15. Ole Miss also has a strong linebacker duo in Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste and Suntarine Perkins, while Isaac Ukwu leads the Rebels with two sacks.

Alabama vs. Ole Miss SEC Football Prediction

While the Crimson Tide struggled a week ago against South Florida coming off a loss at home, the pick to win Saturday still goes to Alabama. However, don’t be surprised if this game is a little more high-scoring than you might think, with Alabama coming away with the victory due to the Crimson Tide’s defense, which could be the difference maker in this matchup.
