The lone ranked-vs.-ranked matchup in SEC football this weekend comes in Oxford, MS, where the Ole Miss Rebels welcome the LSU Tigers to town for a SEC West clash. A head-to-head matchup which LSU has owned since 2016, the Tigers have won six of the last seven meetings between the two, with Ole Miss’ lone win coming back in 2021 in Oxford, 31-17.

Led by head coach Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss enters Saturday ranked as the nation’s No. 20 team in the latest AP Poll, and are sitting at 3-1 overall this season, as well as 0-1 in SEC football play. The Rebels are coming off a 24-10 road loss at Alabama last Saturday, which snapped what was a three-game winning streak for Ole Miss.

Offensively, the Rebels are averaging one of the SEC’s top totals at 42 PPG, and are led by starting quarterback Jaxson Dart. Ole Miss also has one of the conference’s top running backs in sophomore Quinshon Judkins, as well as a talented wide receiver group headlined by the trio of Jordan Watkins, Dayton Wade, and Tre Harris.

On defense, Ole Miss is allowing 18.5 PPG to opponents so far this season, and have two players with 20+ tackles in Trey Washington and Ashanti Cistrunk. The Rebels are also one of the SEC’s top teams when it comes to sacks, with the likes of Suntarine Perkins, Issac Ukwu, and Khari Coleman leading the way.

Led by head coach Brian Kelly, LSU comes to Oxford ranked as the nation’s No. 13 team in the AP Poll, and are currently 3-1 overall this season, as well as 2-0 in SEC play. The Tigers are coming off a close home win last Saturday night, one in which they defeated Arkansas by a final score of 34-31.

Also owning one of the SEC’s top offenses at 42.8 PPG (No. 10 in NCAA), the Tigers offense is led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, as well as two of the conference’s top wide receivers in the duo of Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr.. Alongside that trio, LSU also has a talented running back room that also features Logan Diggs, Josh Williams, Kaleb Jackson, and Noah Cain.

Defensively, the Tigers are allowing 25 PPG to opponents, and are led in tackles by Major Burns at 27 total. Greg Penn III, Zy Alexander, Andre Sam, and Whit Weeks also have 20+ tackles so far this season, while sophomore linebacker Harold Perkins Jr. has been LSU’s top sack leader with two across four games.
