Georgia vs. Kentucky: Week 6 Prediction and Preview
Kentucky’s Killer Backfield
Kentucky’s stud running back Re’Mahn Davis took an unorthodox path to arrive in Lexington, KY. His career began at Temple University before coming to the SEC and joining Clark Lea’s 2021 Vanderbilt roster. After earning 1,000 yards his second season at Vandy, larger programs came calling. Mark Stoops’ call was the one he chose to answer.
The Wildcats could not be happier with the 1-2 punch they snagged from the transfer portal. Quarterback Devin Leary has unquestionable talent and decision making skills, and Davis adds his tenacity to give Kentucky this hot 5-0 start. This is one of the most physical and talented duo’s that our conference has to offer, and Kirby Smart understands that his Dawgs must make adjustments from last week to earn another win.
Georgia’s Balance
Georgia’s success on offense starts with the running game. Regardless of who is offensive coordinator, Kirby Smart wants his team to establish the running game early. However, with the talent and versatility on this current roster, the Bulldogs have also made the most of their weaponry on the outside.
New senior quarterback Carson Beck has been far from perfect, but he’s been incredibly efficient and smart. He has emerged as an elite third down quarterback after going 8/10 in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Despite a few missed throws, once settled in, Beck looks comfortable and confident.
It’s a crime to mention this offense without naming the best non-quarterback in America: Brock Bowers. Georgia’s early running success fuels this Bowers-Beck passing attack and allowed it to flourish in the second half against Auburn.
Prediction:
Georgia wins a defensive battle 24-14 in a rowdy Sanford Stadium night game that sees two touchdowns from UGA RB Daijun Edwards. There is just too much talent on this UGA front seven to not think they will turn it around. However, Kentucky is too good themselves to get blown out.
