In what is likely the toughest test for each team so far this season, Georgia and Kentucky are set to meet Saturday in Athens for what is a Top 20 SEC football matchup. Two of the top teams in the SEC East, Georgia has completely owned this head-to-head matchup recently, as the Bulldogs have won the last 13 meetings between the two dating back to 2010.

Speaking of Georgia, the Bulldogs, who are led by head coach Kirby Smart, are ranked as the No. 1 team in the country according to the AP Poll, and are undefeated at 5-0 overall, as well as 2-0 in SEC play. The two-time defending national champions, Georgia is also coming off their first road trip of the 2023 season, one in which they defeated Auburn by a final score of 27-20.

One of the SEC’s top offensive teams so far this season, Georgia is averaging 38.6 PPG across five games, and are led by one of the nation’s top players in tight end Brock Bowers, as well as starting quarterback Carson Beck. The Bulldogs feature the likes of Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton at running back, while Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and Dominic Lovett have been some of their top wideouts.

Georgia’s defense is also one of the SEC’s best allowing only 13 PPG to opponents, and are led in tackles by linebacker Smael Mondon Jr.. The duo of Tykee Smith and Malaki Starks has combined for five INT’s so far this season, while Javon Bullard and Jamon Dumas-Johnson are also among Georgia’s top tacklers.

Led by head coach Mark Stoops, Kentucky is ranked as the nation’s No. 20 team according to the AP Poll, and are also undefeated at 5-0 overall this season, as well as 2-0 in SEC play. Kentucky is also coming off an impressive Week 5 result, where the Wildcats defeated Florida at home by a final score of 33-14.

The Wildcats come to Athens averaging 37 PPG offensively, and are led by one of SEC football’s top running backs in Ray Davis, who has rushed for 594 yards and eight touchdowns so far this season. Leading the Wildcats offense is also quarterback Devin Leary, while the trio of Tayvion Robinson, Barion Brown, and Dane Key headline the receiving game.

Defensively, the Wildcats are allowing 15.2 PPG to opponents so far this season, and are led by Maxwell Hairston, who has 33 tackles and three INT’s this season. Trevin Wallace, D’Eyrk Jackson, Andru Phillips, and Alex Afari Jr. also have 20+ tackles so far this fall, while the Wildcats pass rush features the likes of Deone Walker and J.J. Weaver.
