In what is a Top 25 SEC football showdown, the Missouri Tigers will put their undefeated record on the line Saturday at home against the LSU Tigers. This will be the fourth meeting all-time between the two teams, with Missouri having won the most recent back in 2020 at home by a final score of 45-41.

Led by head coach Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri enters this Saturday ranked as the nation’s No. 21 team according to the AP Poll, and, as mentioned previously, are currently undefeated at 5-0 overall, as well as 1-0 in SEC play. The Tigers are also coming off their first true road trip of the 2023 season, where they defeated Vanderbilt in Nashville by a final score of 38-21.

Averaging a total of 32 PPG offensively, the Tigers are led by the QB/WR duo of Brady Cook and Luther Burden, who are among SEC football’s top players at their respective positions so far this season. Missouri also has others at wide receiver who have made an impact such as Theo Wease, Mookie Cooper, and Marquis Johnson, while the running back position is headlined by the duo of Cody Schrader and Nathaniel Peat.

On defense, Missouri is allowing 20.8 PPG to opponents so far this season, and are led in tackles by the duo of Joseph Charleston and Ty’Ron Hopper at 27 each. Kris Abrams-Draine has also had three INT’s so far this season, while Daylan Carnell and Johhny Walker Jr. are also among their top pass rushers.

As for LSU, the Tigers, who are led by head coach Brian Kelly, are ranked as the nation’s No. 23 team according to the AP Poll, and are sitting at 3-2 overall, as well as 2-1 in SEC play. LSU is also coming off their second loss of the 2023 season last Saturday, as the Tigers fell at Ole Miss in an offensive shootout, 55-49.

The Tigers offense is one of the best in SEC football averaging 44 PPG (No. 7 in NCAA), and are led by one of the conference’s top quarterbacks in Jayden Daniels. LSU’s offense also features two of the SEC’s top wide receivers in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., as well as a running back room led by Logan Diggs.

Defensively, LSU is one of the SEC’s worst by allowing 31 PPG to opponents, and have four players with 30+ tackles so far this season in Major Burns, Andre Sam, Greg Penn III, and Whit Weeks. The Tigers also have one of the conference’s top linebackers in Harold Perkins, as well as other names to know such as Zy Alexander and Mekhi Wingo.

Missouri vs. LSU SEC Football Prediction

While this is a home game for Missouri, the pick to win here goes to LSU. I’ll say that the Tigers bounce back from their upset loss on the road at Ole Miss from last week, and use a big game from their offense to hand Missouri their first loss of the 2023 season. Prediction: LSU 35, Missouri 24
