As we are coming off the heels of our first full weekend of SEC football play and teams are starting to have bye weeks, our weekly SEC Quarterback Power Rankings are really starting to take shape.

Dart, Milton rise in Week 6 SEC Football Quarterback Power Rankings

14. Payton Thorne/Robby Ashford (Auburn)

Previous Ranking: 14

Auburn played better against Georgia than just about anyone expected, but it was because of their run game as they failed to get much going through the air. Payton Thorne went 10-for-19 through the air for 82 yards and 1 INT (which came on a must-have 4th down conversion in the final minutes as he was trying to force a pass). Robby Ashford went 1-for-1 passing for 6 yards. Even though they combined to throw for just 88 yards, the QB’s did have a lot of success on the ground however. Thorne ran for 92 yards (which included a 61 yarder in the 1st quarter) and Ashford ran for 33 yards and a rushing TD.

Overall for the season, Thorne has a 62.9% completion percentage (59/94 passing), 643 passing yards, 198 rushing yards, 6 total TD’s (4 passing, 2 rushing), and 4 INT’s. Meanwhile, Ashford has a 44.4% completion percentage (8/18 passing), 71 passing yards, 134 rushing yards, 6 total TD’s (1 passing, 5 rushing), and 0 INT’s

Auburn is heading into their bye week.

13. AJ Swann/Ken Seals (Vanderbilt)

Previous Ranking: 13

With AJ Swann still absent with injury, it was Ken Seals who got the start and played the entire contest as Vanderbilt fell 38-21 to Missouri. Seals played fairly well overall going 20-of-31 passing for 259 yards, 3 total TD’s (2 passing, 1 rushing), and 1 INT.

On the year, Swann still has a 53.8% completion percentage (93/173 passing), 1,290 passing yards, 28 rushing yards, 12 total TD’s (11 passing, 1 rushing), and 7 INT’s. Seals now has a 64.3% completion percentage (27/42 passing), 355 passing yards, 5 total TD’s (4 passing, 1 rushing), and 1 INT.

With Vandy’s QB situation still in flux, the Commodores will head into the swamp this week to take on Graham Mertz and Florida at 4:00 pm Eastern.
