8. Max Johnson (Texas A&M)

Previous Ranking: 8

This is now Max Johnson’s spot on the list as we unfortunately seemingly got confirmation last week from Jimbo Fisher that Conner Weigman is out for the season which is now the third straight year that A&M has lost their starting QB within the first five weeks of the season. Interestingly enough, last year it was Johnson who was the starter that got injured which made room for Weigman. Now the roles reverse.

This week, Johnson played well as Texas A&M picked up a big 34-22 win over Arkansas. Johnson went 17-of-28 passing for 210 passing yards, 57 rushing yards, 2 passing TD’s, and 1 INT. For the year, Johnson now has a 62.7% completion percentage (37/59 passing), 436 passing yards, 52 rushing yards, 6 passing TD’s, and 1 INT.

Texas A&M has a chance for their biggest win of the season this week as they host Jalen Milroe and Alabama at 3:30 Eastern on Saturday.

7. Devin Leary (Kentucky)

Previous Ranking: 6

It was Kentucky’s dominant run game (as they ran for 329 yards, including 280 from Ray Davis) that led them to a 33-14 win over Florida. Leary struggled to get much going through the air, but it was not necessarily needed. He went 9-of-19 passing for 69 yards and 1 TD on the afternoon. For the season, Leary now has a 57.7% completion percentage (82/142 passing), 1,129 passing yards, 10 passing TD’s, and 5 INT’s.

Leary and Kentucky have the chance for one of the biggest wins in program history on Saturday as they travel to Athens to take on Carson Beck and Georgia at 7:00 pm Eastern.
