Two of the top teams in the SEC West, Alabama is set to travel to Texas A&M on Saturday in SEC football action. A head-to-head matchup in which Alabama owns a 12-3 all-time advantage, the Crimson Tide have won nine of the 11 meetings since Texas A&M joined the conference back in 2012, with the Aggies lone wins coming in Tuscaloosa in 2012, as well as the most recent game in College Station in 2021, 41-38.

Led by head coach Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M enters this weekend sitting at 4-1 overall, as well as 2-0 in SEC play. The Aggies have also won three-straight games entering Saturday, which includes a 34-22 neutral-site win over Arkansas last weekend.

Texas A&M is currently averaging a combined 38.6 PPG so far this season, and are led by starting quarterback Max Johnson, who has impressed since taking over for Conner Weigman a few weeks ago due to injury. The Aggies offense is also headlined by the wide receiver duo of Evan Stewart and Ainias Smith, as well as two key running backs in Amari Daniels and Le’Veon Moss.

Defensively, Texas A&M is allowing 18.6 PPG to opponents, and are led on that side of the ball by the likes of Edgerrin Cooper and Taurean York. The Aggies also have one of the top pass rushing units in SEC football, with the likes of Walter Nolen, Shemar Turner, Chris Russell, and McKinley Jackson also included in that group.

Led by head coach Nick Saban, Alabama comes to College Station ranked as the nation’s No. 11 team in the AP Poll, and are sitting at 4-1 overall this season, as well as 2-0 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide are also on a three-game winning streak, and are coming off a 40-17 road win at Mississippi State a week ago.

Offensively, Alabama is averaging 32.2 PPG so far this season, and are led by starting quarterback Jalen Milroe. Arguably the strength of the Alabama offense is the running game headlined by Milroe alongside running backs Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams, while the Crimson Tide’s top pass catchers include the likes of Jermaine Burton, Isaiah Bond, and Amari Niblack.

The Alabama defense is allowing only 14.2 PPG to opponents for the year, and are led in tackles by star freshman safety Caleb Downs with 40 total. Alabama also has one of SEC football’s top pass rushing duos in Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell, while Trezmen Marshall, Jaylen Key, Terrion Arnold, Jihaad Campbell, and Malachi Moore also rank among the Crimson Tide’s top tacklers.

Texas A&M vs. Alabama SEC Football Prediction

One of the most anticipated matchups of the entire college football slate this weekend, Texas A&M vs. Alabama is likely to be a close, lower-scoring contest Saturday afternoon in College Station. As to who wins, I’ll say that Alabama eventually pulls away with a score late in the fourth quarter Saturday night, and the Crimson Tide take full control of the drivers seat in the SEC West. Prediction: Alabama 27, Texas A&M 21
