Ole Miss, LSU rise in Week 7 2023 SEC football power rankings

14. Vanderbilt Commodores

Previous Ranking: 14

We begin this week’s update with Vanderbilt remaining at No. 14, as the Commodores dropped their fifth consecutive game by falling at Florida, 38-14. A game in which Vanderbilt trailed by a score of 21-7 at halftime, the Commodores would be outscored 14-0 in the second quarter, as well as 10-0 in the fourth, while also being tied 7-7 in the game’s first and third quarters.

Now sitting at 2-5 overall for the season, as well as 0-3 in SEC play, Vanderbilt will now return home Saturday for what is their toughest test yet against top-ranked Georgia.

13. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Previous Ranking: 13

The lone SEC football team to play a non-conference opponent in Week 6, Mississippi State remains at No. 13 after snapping their three-game losing streak with a 41-28 home win over Western Michigan. A game in which Mississippi State led by a score of 31-21 entering the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs would also out-gain the Broncos in total yardage, 440-413.

Now sitting at 3-3 overall, as well as 0-3 in SEC play, the Bulldogs now enter their bye week.
