3. Texas and Oklahoma will be just fine next year

After their win against Alabama in the second week of the season, the Texas Longhorns sky-rocketed up the AP Poll.

They made it all the way up to No. 3 before falling to the Oklahoma Sooners who now stand at No. 5.

College Gameday was on site in Dallas and many celebrity figures showed face at what ended up being one of the most entertaining games of the year.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey may have been the most important figure in attendance for the last Big 12 Red River Rivalry.

In 2024, the new rivalry will move to SEC football. And with the spectacle that took place, and how good each team looked, there is not anything to worry about with Texas and Oklahoma moving to the SEC.

Sankey has to be pleased with how well the future newcomers have been playing, how well both programs are recruiting, and specifically how fast Brent Venables turned things around after going 6-7 last year.

It is a game-of-the-year candidate and the level of football did not seem vastly different than what some of the other national title contenders are doing.
