A player whose time in Lexington was headlined by a stellar 2020 season, here is a look back at the Kentucky football career of linebacker Jamin Davis.

Looking back at the Kentucky football career of Jamin Davis

Davis originally came to Kentucky as a member of the Wildcats 2017 recruiting class, where he was rated as a three-star outside linebacker out of Long County High School in Georgia. Once in Lexington as well, Davis’ playing career with the Wildcats wouldn’t truly begin until 2018, as the former three-star would redshirt the 2017 season.

As a redshirt freshman however, Davis would go on to appear in all 13 games during the 2018 season, but primarily played a reserve role for the Wildcats defense. Across those 13 games, the former three-star would post a combined stat line of 10 tackles, one INT, and one PD.

During the 2019 season, Davis would once again see action in all 13 games as a redshirt sophomore, as well as even start a game for the Wildcats. During that season, Davis would compile 32 tackles, along with one TFL, one sack, and one INT.

As mentioned at the start, Davis’ career at Kentucky is likely remembered most by his 2020 season, a year in which he was one of the SEC’s top linebackers. Included in that year was 102 tackles to rank No. 3 in the SEC (No. 7 in NCAA), along with four TFL, 1.5 sacks, three INT (No. 5 in SEC), one TD, two PD, and one FF.

At the conclusion of the 2020 season, Davis would go on to enter the 2021 NFL Draft, and would be selected with the No. 19 overall pick by the Washington Football Team. Bringing an end to his Kentucky football career, Davis would conclude his time in Lexington with a stat line of 144 tackles, five TFL, 2.5 sacks, five INT, one TD, three PD, and one FF.

Since entering the NFL, Davis has remained with the Washington Commanders, and is currently in his third season with the team. From 2021-23, Davis has so far compiled a combined 217 tackles, 14 TFL, six sacks, one INT, four PD, one FF, and two FR across 38 games, 29 of which he has started.
