The Missouri Tigers travel to Athens, GA this Saturday for a ranked showdown between the top two teams of the SEC East. Can the Tigers give Georgia a scare?

Georgia vs. Missouri: 2023 Prediction and Preview

Missouri’s Revitalization

Eli Drinkwitz is currently the coach of the year in our conference. In year four of his tenure, Drinkwitz has finally seen his project come together through a combination of experience, the portal, and rare recruiting success. With one glaring exception who will be discussed shortly, the studs of this Tiger group are upperclassmen. Redshirt junior quarterback Brady Cook has taken a massive step forward this season, turning the ball over less and hitting explosive plays down the field consistently. Moreover, senior linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper runs this much-improved Tiger defense and has them allowing just 25 PPG.

A program rebuild can’t happen without recruiting success. Eli Drinkwitz got a superstar in sophomore wide receiver Luther Burden III. With already 900+ yards and 6 TD’s, Burden is a premier player in America and one of the best 2 WR’s in the game.

Dawgs Barking

After listening to doubt in the media through the bye week and adapting to life without Brock Bowers, this Georgia Bulldogs offense proved its doubters wrong last week in emphatic fashion. Quarterback Carson Beck continues to impress and improve each week, and his relationship with Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo seems to be flourishing. As most know, this program doesn’t lack recruiting success, which makes losing the best skill position player in football easier to manage. Oscar Delp and Ladd McConkey proved to be worthy weapons to fill the void, and it seems that it will take much more than one injury to slow this group down.

Prediction

The silent assassin of this Georgia team is Daijun Edwards. After putting up 90+ yards and 2 TD’s last week against Florida, I expect an identical stat line this week. Additionally, Burden will get in the end zone for the Tigers in the first half, as UGA’s secondary has struggled to start games. The best team in the country should pull away in the second half. Prediction: Georgia wins 35-13 and remains the #1 ranked team.
