Georgia continued their recruiting momentum on Tuesday as they landed a commitment from one of the top players in the 2025 class in 6’8 forward Jacob Wilkins out of Lilburn, Ga.

Wilkins is a consensus Four-Star recruit and a consensus top 100 player in the class of 2025. On3 and 247 both rank him inside the top 25 of the class. On3’s composite rating has him ranked as the #33 player and the #8 small forward in the class.

The Georgia native chose the Dawgs over fellow finalist Virginia.

2025 4-star SF Jacob Wilkins commits to Georgia

Wilkins will likely need to add some size, currently weighing in at just 165 pounds, but he’s just heading into his junior season of High School so he will have some time. He is very athletic, plays well in transition, and has a lot of defensive potential.

Wilkins transferred to in-state power Grayson HS this summer after beginning his HS career at Parkview HS. In his Sophomore season this past year at Parkview, Wilkins helped lead Parkview to the second round of the state tournament. Grayson reached the state semifinals in Georgia’s highest classification (7A) last year, and Wilkins will be teaming with 2024 four-star Gicarri Harris, who is also a Georgia target, for the Rams. Grayson also features App State commit Anthony Alston and Western Carolina commit CJ Hyland to form a potent group of players.

Wilkins also impressed over the summer on the AAU circuit, playing with The Skill Factory’s 2025 EYBL team.

Jacob Wilkins has a familial relationship with both of his two finalists. He is the son of former Georgia and Atlanta Hawks star Dominique Wilkins. Dominique led Georgia for three seasons from 1979-1982 in which he averaged 21.6 PPG and 7.5 RPG. He then spent the first 11.5 seasons of his Hall of Fame NBA career in Atlanta where he averaged 26.4 PPG and 6.9 RPG for the Hawks.

His older brother, Isaiah Wilkins, also played at Virginia from 2015-2018 (where he played in 132 games) and is now an assistant coach there.

Wilkins is Georgia’s first member of the 2025 class, but presumably won’t be the last. As hinted at earlier, Wilkins continues a strong week-or-so of recruiting for Mike White as Georgia picked up a commitment from 2024 Five-Star Asa Newell last week, and are finalists for Derrion Reid (who was supposed to announce his commitment over the weekend, but was forced to postpone due to unforeseen issues). Georgia will hope that Wilkins continues this momentum as the Dawgs look to build their 2024 and 2025 classes.
