Additions – Hailey Van Lith (Louisville) and Aneesah Morrow (DePaul)

The rich got richer as the defending national champions added even more talent to their roster via the transfer portal this offseason. The Bayou Bengals added arguably the top two players in the portal in Hailey Van Lith and Aneesah Morrow.

Van Lith comes to Baton Rouge after a standout three years at Louisville, capped by being first team All-ACC in her final two years. Last season, Van Lith helped lead Louisville to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament as she averaged 19.7 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 3.2 APG, and 1.5 SPG on the year. The year before that in 2021/22, Van Lith averaged 14.4 PPG, 3.6 RPG, and 2.2 APG while shooting 43.2% from the field and 36% from deep. Overall for her Cardinal career, Van Lith averaged 15.4 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.5 APG, and 1.3 SPG while shooting 42.2% from the field and 33.7% from deep. ESPN ranked Van Lith as the top player in the portal.

Morrow has been one of the best mid-major players in the country over her two years at DePaul, earning back-to-back 1st team All-Big East honors and the conference’s Freshman of the Year award in 2022. This past season, Morrow averaged a whopping 25.7 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 2.6 SPG, and 1.3 BPG. She shot 42.5% from the field on the year. Morrow was one of just two players who ranked in the top 10 nationally in both points per game (4th) and rebounds per game (7th), joining her new LSU teammate Angel Reese as the only players to do so, giving the Tigers a formidable 1-2 punch down low. In Morrow’s Freshman season in 2021/22, she averaged 21.9 PPG, 13.8 RPG, 2.7 SPG, and 1.8 BPG while shooting 51.9% to win her Freshman of the Year award. ESPN ranked Morrow as the No. 2 player in the portal.

Morrow also joins her former teammate in the previously mentioned Darrione Rogers (who is headed to Mississippi State) in both heading to the SEC.
