Coming off a week that was headlined by a Top 10 showdown in Athens, here is the latest update of our 2023 SEC football power rankings entering Week 12.
LSU, Missouri rise in Week 12 2023 SEC football power rankings
14. Vanderbilt Commodores
Previous Ranking: 14
Beginning our post-Week 11 update is Vanderbilt remaining at No. 14, as the Commodores would drop their ninth-straight game Saturday with a 47-6 road loss at South Carolina. A game in which the Commodores were out-gained in total yardage, 487-234, Vanderbilt would only trail 13-0 at halftime, but struggled in the second half where they were outscored a combined 34-6.
Vanderbilt now enters their bye week sitting at 2-9 overall, as well as SEC football’s lone winless team in conference play at 0-7.
13. Mississippi State Bulldogs
Previous Ranking: 13
Remaining in the No. 13 spot is the first of two SEC football programs to make a coaching change over the weekend, as Mississippi State parted ways with head coach Zach Arnett after dropping their third consecutive game with a 51-10 road loss at Texas A&M. Out-gained in total yardage, 396-237, the Bulldogs would carry a 34-10 deficit into halftime, as well as be shutout 17-0 in the second half altogether.
Now sitting at 4-6 overall, as well as 1-6 in SEC play, the Bulldogs will play the first game under interim head coach Greg Knox on Saturday at home against Southern Miss.
