SEC Basketball: Kentucky, South Carolina rise in latest 2023-24 power rankings

4. Alabama Crimson Tide
Previous Ranking: 1
One of the biggest SEC basketball teams to fall this week was Alabama, as the Crimson Tide dropped three spots from No. 1 to No. 4. After beginning the year with four-straight wins over Morehead State, Indiana State, South Alabama, and Mercer, Alabama has since struggled by losing two of their last three against Ohio State and Clemson, with a win however against Oregon taking place in between the two.
Now sitting at 5-2 overall, Alabama has a challenge non-conference schedule remaining, which is headlined by neutral-court matchups against Purdue, Arizona, and Liberty, as well as a road trip to Creighton. Also included are home games against Arkansas State and Eastern Kentucky.
3. Tennessee Volunteers
Previous Ranking: 2
Dropping a spot from No. 2 to No. 3 is Tennessee, who have played one of the toughest non-conference schedules of any SEC basketball team up to this point. Against that schedule, the Volunteers would begin the year with four-straight wins against Tennessee Tech, Wisconsin, Wofford, and Syracuse, but have since dropped their last three consecutive games against Purdue, Kansas, and North Carolina.
Now sitting at 4-3 overall, Tennessee will host George Mason, Illinois, Georgia Southern, Tarleton State, and Norfolk State across the remainder of their non-conference schedule. The Volunteers will also play NC State on a neutral-court.
