NFL rosters are finalized. 53 players made each team. While there are always some surprise additions and surprise cuts, one thing that has remained supreme over the last decade-plus is the amount of SEC talent on each roster. While roster mainstays like Alvin Kamara, Jalen Hurts and Justin Jefferson obviously made their rosters, some other surprising moves were made that saw former SEC players cut.

Here are the 10 most notable NFL roster cuts of former SEC players

10. S, Ronnie Harrison (Indianapolis Colts)

The former safety of the Alabama Crimson Tide is a six-year NFL veteran who has appeared in 74 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts since being drafted in the second round back in 2018 in the third round.

Harrison could have some left on the table, so do not be surprised if he signs on with another team.

9. QB, Matt Corral (Minnesota Vikings)

Yes, this is Matt Corral who led the Ole Miss Rebels to their first 10-win season under Lane Kiffin. After being drafted in the third round by the Carolina Panthers in 2022, Corral has primarily been seen in the USFL and XFL, which you could see him back in in 2024.

8. C.J. Uzomah (Philadelphia Eagles)

Uzomah is a nine-year NFL veteran and was a key player for the Auburn Tigers for four years. He spent his first seven seasons as the primary tight end with the Cincinnati Bengals before spending the last two with the New York Jets. We will see if Uzomah can catch on with another team. His age is against him, but he has proven reliable in the past.

7. Daijon Edwards (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Edwards and Kendall Milton split carries last season with the Georgia Bulldogs. And with Milton missing time with an injury, Edwards was often the primary back and really stepped up for the Bulldogs helping them to a 13-0 regular season record. Edwards went undrafted and with his lack of size was not expected to have a great shot at making the Steelers behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, but worth a mention due a solid college career.

6. Anders Carlson (Green Bay Packers)

This may be one of the more surprising cuts of the 2024 NFL season despite it being a kicker. Carlson, like many kickers, struggled with the transition to the NFL after an outstanding career with the Auburn Tigers.

After being drafted in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, Carlson converted only 81.8 percent of his field goal attempts in the regular season and missed five extra points. With kicker being one of the most replaceable positions in the NFL, this was an easy decision for the Packers.

5. QB, Jake Fromm (Detroit Lions)

Fromm was still trying to cling to an NFL roster, but it will not be in Detroit as they are set at the position with starting quarterback Jared Goff and backup Hendon Hooker. Fromm starred for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs from 2017-2019 throwing for over 8,000 yards in his college career.

Fromm was originally drafted into the NFL in the fifth round by the Buffalo Bills in 2020 and has bounced around the league since with his longest stint being with the Washington Commanders.

Keep your eyes peeled to see if Fromm surfaces in the XFL.

4. WR, Tayvion Robinson (Carolina Panthers)

Robinson showed a lot of potential with the Virginia Tech Hokies and then the Kentucky Wildcats for his final college season in 2024. The Panthers did not see him producing at the next level however and sent the former Wildcats wide receiver packing.

Robinson is still young and the XFL could be a good option for him to work on his skills to maybe resurface in the NFL at some point.

3. S, Kareem Jackson (Buffalo Bills)

Jackson last played college football in 2009 and was a part of the Crimson Tide’s 2009 National Championship team. The 14-year NFL veteran may have finally seen his career come to an end after being cut by the Bills. Jackson spent the first nine years of his career locking down the secondary for the Houston Texans.

2. S, Johnathan Abram (New Orleans Saints)

Abram was drafted 27th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. The former first-round pick starred for the Mississippi State Bulldogs totaling 170 tackles in two seasons. That production failed to keep up in the NFL for the Las Vegas Raiders who did not renew Abram after his rookie contract. Abrams has bounced around the NFL since. He is still on the younger side, so do not be surprised if he catches on with another NFL team.

1. WR, Kadarius Toney (Kansas City Chiefs)

The former Florida Gators wide receiver showed so much potential coming out of college but failed to amount to much with the New York Giants who drafted him 20th overall in 2021. Toney was traded this past season to the Chiefs for a third-round draft pick just last season. Dropped passes continued to be the theme and it seems that things did not improve this fall camp for Toney.
