105 MPH Fast Ball Incoming Friday for this SEC Team

Iowa Hawkeyes pitcher Brody Brecht will take the mound this Friday against the Ole Miss Rebels who look to improve upon a 4-4 start. They will have to get past Brecht however who has been clocked at 105 miles per hour on the radar gun.

105 miles per hour. That is how fast Brody Brecht, right handed pitcher for the Iowa Hawkeyes throws. And Brecht and the Hawkeyes will be traveling down to Oxford for a three game series against the Ole Miss Rebels that begins Friday.

While the Rebels have some hard throwing pitchers of their own including freshman Austin Simmons, no one consistently even hits 100, let alone 105 which is what they will be facing.

Why Brody Brecht's stats should concern the Ole Miss Rebels

Brecht is expected to start on the mound Friday against the Rebels coming off of an 11 strikeout appearance against the Auburn Tigers this past week.

And that 11 strikeout performance is not just flash in the pan for the junior from Ankeny, Iowa. So far this season, Brecht boasts a 1.74 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 10.1 innings pitched between his two starts. Last year as a sophomore, Brecht posted a 3.74 ERA with 109 strikeouts in only 77 innings. That is an average of 1.4 strikeouts per inning.

Brecht is projected in 2024 by many to be amongst the top 100 prospects for MLB draft. That should heighten the alarm even more so for the Rebels heading into this weekend.

The Hawkeyes and Rebels are both are off to a 4-4 start, with the Hawkeyes at 1-1 with Brecht on the mount.

While early season non-conference baseball is sometimes just a tune up with fans chomping at the bit for SEC conference action, tune into this one as the lightning speed on Brecht’s fast ball should keep baseball fans entertained regardless of your allegiance.

The silver lining even if the Rebels lose is having to face speed like this. Inevitably they will come across a few more flame throwers as the season goes along. So facing one early win or lose is a positive from an experience standpoint.
