No. 2: Dan Lanning (Oregon Head Coach)

Speaking of hot up-and-coming HCs, the fastest riser right now might be 37-year old Dan Lanning. Lanning also has a connection with Alabama, as he served as a Graduate Assistant under Nick Saban in 2015. He then eventually went on to become the Defensive Coordinator at Georgia from 2019-2021 (helping them win a National title in the process).

He then took the head job at Oregon, his first head coaching opportunity. He quickly took Oregon to the precipice of a CFP appearance this season with a 12-2 season (with both losses being by 3 points to Washington). Lanning currently has a 22-5 record as a Head Coach.

Lanning seems to be in the yoke of Saban in terms of being defensive-minded, a master motivator, and a strong recruiter. Saban also recently remarked how much he liked Lanning as an assistant and wanted him to return to Alabama in 2018, but Kirby beat him to the punch. Lanning will definitely be a top name (if not *the* top name) on most Alabama fan's wish lists.
