While no one in the portal committed to an SEC school on Thursday, SEC schools were linked to several important players in the portal and we have some other news/notes:
Auburn and Oklahoma are the Top 2 schools for High Point transfer Duke Miles
Duke Miles has reportedly narrowed his list down to two schools, and it will be a battle of new conference foes as they both happen to be SEC schools in Auburn and Oklahoma. The High Point guard averaged 17.5 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and 3.6 APG on the year while shooting 52.8% from the field and 36.1% from three. Miles previously spent 3 years at Troy where he averaged 9.2 PPG in 49 games. Miles is originally from Montgomery, Ala. which is under an hour away from Auburn.
247 releases final transfer portal player rankings, ten current SEC-bound players rank in top 50
With the transfer portal now closed, 247 released their final transfer portal player rankings. Of players currently committed to SEC schools, ten of them are in the top 50. They are: 3. Johnell Davis (to Arkansas), 14. Mark Mitchell (to Missouri), 19. Jonas Aidoo (to Arkansas), 22. Brandon Garrison (to Kentucky), 33. Otega Oweh (to Kentucky), 41. Aden Holloway (to Alabama), 43. Tramon Mark (to Texas), 45. Sean Pedulla (to Ole Miss), 47. Lamont Butler Jr. (Kentucky), and 49. Felix Okpara (to Tennessee). This number will obviously change as more uncommitted players in the top 50 potentially pick SEC schools, but that's where it stands as of now.
Five SEC schools linked to North Florida transfer Chaz Lanier
Kentucky, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt have all been linked to North Florida transfer guard Chaz Lanier, who was one of the top players in the ASun last year (a 1st team All-ASun selection). Lanier averaged 19.7 PPG and 4.8 RPG on 51% shooting from the field and 44% shooting from three. Lanier is ranked as a top-10 player in the portal according to both On3 (No. 8) and 247 (No. 10), so he would be a massive get for any of those schools.
Texas A&M and Oklahoma linked to UTSA transfer Jordan Ivy-Curry
After he de-committed from Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma have been two of the teams in on UTSA transfer Jordan Ivy-Curry. Ivy-Curry averaged 17.1 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 3 APG this past season (his lone one at UTSA). He shot 40.1% from the field and 38.7% from three. He will reportedly be visiting Kansas this weekend.
