Arkansas Shuts Out Auburn in Game One

In game one of three betwen #1 Arkansas and #23 Auburn, the Razorbacks shut out the Tigers to win 1-0. Let's recap this ranked victory for Arkansas.

On Thursday evening, the number one ranked Arkansas Razorbacks began a three game series against the twenty-third ranked Auburn Tigers.

Hagen Smith got the start on the mound for the Razorbacks and continued to dominate. In six innings of work, Smith struck out 12 batters and allowed three hits, two walks, and no earned runs. This was enough for the win, which made his record improve to 4-0.

With this performance, Smith made his incredible numbers look even better. Smith has a record of 4-0 on the season with an earned run average of 1.24 in 29 innings pitched with 62 strikeouts. Those 62 strikeouts tie the D-1 lead for strikeouts this season.

Will McEntire threw two scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Razorbacks. In those two innings, McEntire struck out three batters and allowed no base runners. Gabe Gaeckle got the save out of the bullpen. He threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.

Connor McBride got the start for the Tigers and had a solid start. In four innings on the mound, McBride struck out four batters and gave up four hits, two walks, and one earned run. This gave him the loss, making his record 3-1.

Cam Tilly threw 2.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Auburn. In this outing, Tilly struck out two batters and walked one. Tanner Bauman and Will Cannon both had scoreless outings out of the bullpen aswell.

The lone run scored this game was in the first inning. Wehiwa Aloy hit a solo home run to start the game and it ended up winning the game for the Razorbacks.

With the win, Arkansas improved their record to 18-2 with a 4-0 conference record. With the loss, Auburn dropped to 14-7 with a 0-4 conference record.

Game two will be tomorrow at six o'clock, central standard time.
