Auburn Picks up Top Transfer Portal Wide Receiver
Auburn football picked up a needed transfer portal boost at the Wide Receiver position on Wednesday afternoon in the form of a commitment from Penn State transfer KeAndre Lambert-Smith.
The 6'1, 185 pound receiver spent four seasons at Penn State. He took a big step forward in 2023 as he put up 53 catches, 673 receiving yards, and 4 TD's.
He was Penn State's leading receiver in both receptions and receiving yards on the year as he earned 2023 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors for his efforts. For his Nittany Lion career, he had 126 catches, 1,721 receiving yards, and 11 TD's.
247 is the most bullish on Lambert-Smith, ranking him as the No. 70 overall player and No. 13 WR in the portal. On3 ranks him as the No. 140 overall player in the portal. He was the highest remaining uncommitted receiver in the portal according to 247, and was one of the top uncommitted players overall.
Lambert-Smith was a big play threat at Penn State, averaging 15.7 yards per reception combined in his Sophomore and Junior seasons (2021 and 2022). He is the only receiver in Penn State history with multiple 80+-yard receptions, which includes an 88-yard TD catch in the 2023 Rose Bowl.
Lambert-Smith is using his Covid-year of eligibility and should be playing his final year of eligibility this season on the Plains.
Hugh Freeze and Auburn have been very active in the Transfer Portal this offseason. Lambert-Smith is the Tigers' 13th portal addition this year. He is the third one at the WR position, joining Cal transfer Sam Jackson V and Georgia State transfer Robert Lewis.
Lambert-Smith, Jackson V, and Lewis are some of the newcomers in what will be a completely remade and drastically improved Auburn Wide Receiver room in 2024.
The Tigers also landed star in-state WR recruit Cam Coleman, who is a consensus five-star and top-10 overall player in the 2024 HS class, along with highly ranked four-star receiver Perry Thompson. Auburn also landed two other four-star HS receivers in Malcolm Simmons and Bryce Cain (as well as three-star WR Dylan Gentry as a PWO as well).
