Brian Kelly had nothing but positive things to say about what NFL teams would be getting if they decided to draft Jayden Daniels in the first round of the NFL Draft this evening.

One thing most are very confident on is that the Chicago Bears will be drafting USC quarterback, Caleb Williams with the number one pick in the draft. Beyond that, there has been a large debate in which quarterback will be the second drafted between North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.

Teams that need a quarterback drafting after the Chicago Bears are the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots who draft second and third respectively. After that, the New York Giants would bet he next likely team to take a quarterback at number six.

The disclaimer on this is that as we know, the NFL draft has been crazy with trades the last few years. Last year was a record number of trades with 41. Regardless, Daniels and Maye will both have suitors in the top five even if it is not the Patriots and Commanders. I think that is safe to say.

While one of the main knocks on Daniels from NFL scouts has been his size, Kelly came to his quarterbacks defense recently making an appearance on Good Morning Football with Peter Schrager, as well as appearing on ESPN’s “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd.

On The Herd Kelly Stated, “If he (Daniels) was a poor decision-maker, if he was sloppy with the football, if he couldn’t walk into an NFL locker room and lead the guys, then those are the things that leave you not getting any sleep…He can put weight on. Those are small concerns.”

This is great news for Daniels that his coach is coming to his defense in very public and popular sports talk shows. And the most important thing is that his comments make sense. This could help to solidify Daniels as the second quarterback taken in tonight’s first round over Maye.
