College World Series Rematch: Florida Gators vs LSU Tigers

This weekend, college baseball fans get to see a rematch of the College World Series Championship. The sixth ranked Florida Gators travel to Baton Rouge to take on the fifth ranked LSU Tigers for a three game series.

Last June, the Tigers and Gators faced off in Omaha, Nebraska, for the College World Series Championship. This series went back and forth as LSU won game one, Florida won game two, and LSU won the finale 18-4.

Now in March, the Tigers and Gators will face off in the second weekend of conference play. Last weekend, LSU lost two out of three games to Mississippi State and Florida won two out of three games against Texas A&M.

In the midweek, LSU beat Louisiana Tech and Florida lost to Jacksonville.

Game one will be on Friday night at eight o'clock, eastern standard time. LSU is expected to start Luke Holman, who is 4-1 on the year with a 0.63 earned run average and 43 strikeouts. Florida is expected to start Cade Fisher, who is 2-1 on the year with a 7.94 earned run average and 37 strikeouts.

Game two will be on Saturday night at seven o'clock, eastern standard time. Gage Jump is the expected starter for LSU, who has a 2-0 record with an earned run average of 2.12 and 24 strikeouts. Liam Peterson is the expected starter for Florida, who has a record of 1-2 with a 7.50 earned run average and 22 strikeouts.

Game three will be on Sunday afternoon at three o'clock, eastern standard time. Thatcher Hurd is the probable starter for LSU, who has a record of 1-2 with an earned run average of 6.55 and 29 strikeouts. Jac Caglianone is the probable starter for Florida, who has a record of 2-0 with a 1.77 earned run average and 34 strikeouts.

Tommy White has been the hottest hitter at the plate for the Tigers in recent weeks. This season, White has a batting average of .348 with six home runs and 21 runs batted in. He also has an OPS of 1.029, which includes an on-base percentage of .433 and a slugging percentage of .596.
