Exploring the unique traditions of Texas A&M University

Texas A&M University has some of the most unique traditions in all of sports. In this article, I list my top five and explain.

4) “No Cheerleaders”

The Texas A&M Aggies are the only division one football team without any cheerleaders. Instead, they have “Yell Leaders” who hype up the crowd at every home game.

3) “Midnight Yell”

As mentioned, the Aggies have no cheerleaders and rely on the “Yell Leaders” to lead the cheering at every home game.

The “Midnight Yell” tradition is held at midnight at Kyle Field the night before each home game to get the crowd in sync to effect the game in what is branded as “The 12th Man,” insinuating a crowd advantage due to synchronous cheering led by the Yell Leaders.
