Fans share their thoughts on the most annoying fan bases in college football

I took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to ask fans who they thought was the most annoying fan base in college football, and the results are in.

The results are in and the most annoying fan base in all of college football has been identified. Although as one X (formerly known as Twitter) user puts it in response to my post, all fan bases are annoying- even their own. This could also be deemed as fair, but I say that all and every are passionate.

Regardless of one’s allegiance, whoever they are loyal to they feel is superior and hold themselves with the upmost integrity compared to all other fan bases, especially the one that they themselves view as the most annoying.

How annoying is defined can be seen in several different ways including unrealistic expectations, being overrated, or just plain old loud and obnoxious. Whatever the label, we are all glad that college football has returned for 2024, so let the banter begin.

The most annoying fan bases in college football are announced

Tennessee Volunteers

In my experience, Vols fans can be mistaken as annoying when they are truly just more passionate than most other fan bases.

One Vol fan on X however fully embraces the hatred. As many Vols fans view themselves, they are truly a passionate fan base. And although many can see them as annoying at time s which I also can understand, I’m with Vol nation on this one- they are truly passionate win or lose.

Georgia Bulldogs

Playfully of course, but a fan base that barks at people out of nowhere when walking into stadiums or at tailgates deserves a mention here. Those that are not dawgs fans simply do not understand.

Ohio State

Ohio State was mentioned quite a few times in my X thread. Considering they have not won a National Championship since 2014 all thanks to Lane Kiffin not running Derrick Henry in the second half, this is difficult to argue. While they are always ranked high, it seems they either lose to Michigan, or whichever SEC team they square off against in the post-season.

Kansas Jayhawks

Most likely from more of a basketball perspective, but a few Kansas State Wildcat fans on X were not shy about sharing that they thought the Jayhawks were the most annoying fan base. They have had a large amount of success throughout the years in college basketball. Their past two coaches in Roy Williams and Bill Self have had historic tenures which heightens it even more recently.

On top of the success on the court, current Jayhawks football coach Lance Leipold has that program on an upward trajectory as well. This understandably so heightens annoyance to some for the fan base even more-so.

A Jayhawk user on X lashed back rightfully so with some playful banter over what Kansas State has accomplished as far as football recently. And they are not wrong- nothing more than a Pop-Tart Bowl.

While there are several other fan bases listed miscellaneously by the ones and twos in the thread which at this point has over 100 responses, these four are separated by number of responses by far, hence the reason they are listed.
