Five star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham has verbally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The six foot two inch, 180 pounds standout from Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi will be the next in line of highly recruited Alabama receivers to play for the Tide if he indeed sign with the Crimson Tide in 2025.
On3 ranks Cunningham as the top overall prospect out of the state of Mississippi and the number two wide receiver prospect nationally.
What are Caleb Cunningham’s strengths?
Cunningham is a strong receiver that can win pretty much any one on one ball and has speed to burn as well. This rare combination is part of the reason he is a five consensus five star recruit.
Even though Cunningham plays at the 3A level in the state of Mississippi, his skill set cannot be denied. With that size, strength and speed, no matter who you are playing it is hard to ignore.
What other five star wide receivers have signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide?
The most recent five star to sign with Alabama is Ryan Williams from Saraland High School in Saraland, Alabama. Williams’ ranking was extremely impressive considering he reclassified so should still be in high school another year. Despite this, On3 still ranked him as a consensus five star.
Other five star receivers that have paved the way before Cunningham are Jerry Jeudy, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. Ridley and Jones have had successful NFL careers, while Jeudy is still navigating his way but has been in the league since 2020.
There is little question that head coach Kalen DeBoer used this as a recruiting pitch to Cunningham. And with Alabama loaded at quarterback behind Jalen Milroe who will probably be out of Tuscaloosa by the time Cunningham receives significant playing time, the Tide are still loaded at quarterback behind him which bodes well for Cunningham.
Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan and Austin Mack set the Tide up for great depth at the position, so Cunningham should be excited about the situation he is walking into.
