Georgia picked up a big commitment over the weekend as they landed a pledge from one of the top QB's and overall players in the 2026 class in QB Jared Curtis out of Nashville Christian School in Nashville, TN.
Curtis ranks as the top player overall (and thus top QB) in the 2026 class according to 247. On3 ranks him as the No. 4 QB and the No. 36 overall player.
Meanwhile Rivals ranks him as the No. 2 QB and the No. 19 overall player. The 247 composite ranks Curtis as the top QB and the No. 9 overall player. The On3 Industry Ranking slots him as the No. 3 QB and the No. 14 overall player.
A lot of the top schools (such as Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma) are in on Curtis, but it's the Dawgs who have landed the commitment from the rising-Junior signal caller.
At the moment, Ohio State appears to be the biggest threat in trying to lure Curtis away. There's a long way to go before Curtis' name is on paper and he's in Athens, but landing his commitment early is a great sign.
Curtis is currently listed at 6'3, 215 pounds. He has a big arm, and has also shown the ability to be a factor in the run game as well (at least at the High School level).
This past season for Nashville Christian (Curtis' Sophomore season), he completed 56.1% of his passes for 2,522 passing yards, 543 rushing yards, 38 total TD's (25 passing, 13 rushing), and 9 INT's. He helped lead Nashville Chr. to the TSSAA Division II Class A semifinals.
In his Freshman season in 2022, Curtis was the runner-up for Tennessee Mr. Football as he completed 59.1% of his passes for 2,285 passing yards, 481 rushing yards, 34 total TD's (27 passing, 7 rushing), and 8 INT's.
Georgia has been recruiting the quarterback position heavily in recent weeks. The Dawgs have been making a major run at in-state 2025 5* prospect (and current USC commit) Julian "Juju" Lewis recently, and have also apparently been pushing for Curtis in the 2026 class as well (as seen by his commitment).
Interestingly, Lewis used to be a member of the 2026 class, but re-classified to 2025 back in January. I would point out that due to the class difference that Curtis' commitment does not mean Georgia will not land Lewis.
The Dawgs usually sign at least one QB each class. Georgia recently signed the No. 10 QB (Ryan Puglisi) in the 2024 class (and had two QB's committed in the class for a while).
I do not think Curtis' commitment will mean Georgia is backing off of Lewis, rather the Dawgs are just recruiting QB's in both classes heavily.
It was a mixed weekend in terms of recruiting for the Dawgs. Georgia landed Curtis, but also lost the commitment of 2025 5* Justus Terry (who flipped to USC). However, landing Curtis is a strong start to the 2026 class for Georgia. Curtis is a player that Georgia can begin to build their class around.
