Georgia Mercy Rules Fifth Ranked Tennessee in Game One

The Georgia Bulldogs dominated the Tennessee Volunteers in game one of a three game series. Let's recap this blowout for Georgia.

The Georgia Bulldogs got a mercy rule win over the fifth ranked Tennessee Volunteers in game one of a three game series.

Charlie Goldstein got the start for the Bulldogs and had a solid night. In six innings pitched, Goldstein struck out three batters and allowed nine hits, zero walks, and allowed zero earned runs. This was enough to earn the win, making his record on the season 4-0.

AJ Causey has been a dominant arm for Tennessee, but today he struggled. In 2.2 innings pitched, Causey struck out three batters and allowed seven hits, two walks, and seven earned runs. This gave him the loss, making his record on the season 5-1.

The scoring began in second inning as the Bulldogs put up six runs. Kolby Branch scored three runs on a double and Corey Collins drove in three more runs on a home run.

Georgia added two more runs in the third on a two run homer by Fernando Gonzalez. Tennessee scored their lone two runs in the third inning after Christian Moore drove in a run and Kavares Tears hit a run scoring double.

In the fifth inning, the Bulldogs scored another three runs on a two run double by Slate Alford and a run scoring double by Dylan Goldstein.

Clayton Chadwick hit a solo home run in the sixth inning right before Corey Collins hit his second three run homer of the game.

Fernando Gonzalez hit a sacrifice flyout to score the Bulldogs 16th run of the game and Brian Zeldin came in to throw a scoreless inning to finish the game.

The final score ended 16-2 and the Bulldogs get an upset victory in game one. Georgia improved their record to 22-4, with a 4-3 conference record. Tennessee dropped to 22-5, with a 3-4 conference record.

Game two will be played tomorrow afternoon at five o'clock, eastern standard time.
