6-foot-8 and 380 pounds. That is the height and weight of class of 2025 high school football offensive tackle prospect, Byron Washington out of Desoto, Texas.

While Texas is known historically as a breeding ground for high school talent, Washington definitely fits that bill and then some given his size.

www.on3.com has Washington rated as a three-star prospect at an industry rank of 85.5%, with a 99.6% currently to end up with Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns.

Washington currently holds 10 scholarship offers, including five from the states of Texas alone after helping to lead his team, the Desoto High School Eagles to a state championship in 2023 and a 16-0 record at the 6A level.

Barrett Sallee on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted a picture seen above of Washington going up against a 6-foot-3, 210 pound defensive end and made him look small.

While he is massive, that kind of weight at 6-foot-8 can slow you down, hence one of the reasons Washington is not rated higher as a prospect as of right now.

Like all young players however, Washington is a work in progress and learning. Washington was featured on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football YouTube channel and stated, “when I started at left tackle, that kind of forced me to speed my feet up so when I got back to guard I could be a lot more shifty.”

Washington appears to have the right mindset as well when giving advice to younger player saying, “I would not really worry about stars. I just have to put my head down… As long as you continue to work and stay true to your team, you’ll be good.”

With this kind of mindset combined with his size, watch for Washington to rise up the recruiting rankings by the time signing day rolls around in 2025. If he commits to the Longhorns, most likely he will be protecting quarterback, Arch Manning when he first gets to Austin.

Stay tuned as well for Washington’s senior season at Desoto. Not only did the Eagles win the state title in 2023, but 2022 as well. This year as a leader, Washington will look to help his team three-peat as state champions.
