The 11th seeded LSU Tigers are 3-0 to begin the SEC Baseball Tournament. All three wins have been against teams seeded higher than the Tigers. These wins have been against the 6th seeded Georgia Bulldogs, 3rd seeded Kentucky Wildcats, and the 10th seeded South Carolina Gamecocks.

What have been the Keys to LSU Baseball's Recent Success?

Steven Milam has been having a very impressive tournament. Through three games, Milam has a .500 batting average with one home run and four runs batted in. He had two clutch runs batted in against South Carolina.

Gage Jump had a great start against a tough Georgia offense. Against Georgia, Jump threw seven innings and allowed four hits, one walk, and one earned run while striking out seven. This got him his sixth win on the season.

Luke Holman followed Jumps great start with a dominant start against Kentucky. In that game, Holman tossed six no-hit innings and struck out seven batters. This earned him his ninth win on the season.

These three players have led LSU to the game against South Carolina. This game against the Gamecocks ended up with 21 total runs and a late ninth inning comeback.

Thatcher Hurd got the start for LSU and struggled. In two innings of work, Hurd struck out five and allowed three hits, two walks, and four earned runs. Justin Loer and Fidel Ulloa both had scoreless outings late in the game to help the Tigers take the win.

Steven Milam got the scoring started early with a run scoring single, but South Carolina responded in the third inning with five runs. These five runs came from a run scoring double from Ethan Petry and a grand slam from Cole Messina. This gave the Gamecocks a 5-1 lead, but that lead didn't last long.

Hayden Travinski started a rally in the fourth inning for the Tigers with a run scoring double. Steven Milam hit a run scoring single before Jake Brown tied up the game with a two run homer. This tied the game at five.

Jared Jones hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to give the Tigers the lead, but Parker Noland hit a sacrifice fly for the Gameocks to tie it at six.

Tommy White drove in a run on a ground out to put the Tigers up one in the sixth. South Carolina responded with a two run single from Cole Messina and a two run single from Parker Noland. This gave the Gamecocks a 10-7 lead.

An error by South Carolina got the game within one with a score of 10-9. Then in the ninth inning, Alex Millazo hit a sacrifice fly out to tie the game at 10. Michael Braswell hit a go ahead single in the ninth to give LSU an 11-10 lead.

Fidel Ulloa shut the door and the Tigers remained undefeated in the SEC Tournament. LSU will have to wait to see who wins the elimination game between Kentucky and South Carolina. The winner of that game will play LSU on Saturday.
