Most Valuable Player
The most valuable player award is going to a player who has been a game changer for their team. Many players have been game changers this season, but this player has been dominant on the mound and at the plate.
The mid-season most valuable player is Jac Caglianone of the Florida Gators. The two-way prospect has been one of the top pitchers and hitters inside of the entire conference.
Caglianone is very well known throughout the sports world as he has already gotten comparisons to Shohei Ohtani. MLB Pipeline has ranked him as the fifth best prospect for this years Major League Draft.
Being a two-way prospect is very difficult to do, which is why not a lot of players do it. Why Caglianone is so special is because he is one of the best hitters and pitchers in college.
At the plate, Caglianone has always been known as a power hitter as he has 54 career collegiate home runs. This season, Caglianone has a batting average of .397 with 14 home runs and 30 runs batted in. He also has a 1.257 OPS, which includes an on-base percentage of .481 and a slugging percentage of .776.
On the mound, Caglianone has been the best starter for the Gators all season. Through six starts, Caglianone has a 3-0 record with a 2.18 earned run average in 33 innings pitched and has struck out 44 batters. He also has a 1.12 WHIP.
Caglianone gets it done on both the mound and at the plate. This is why he is my mid-season most valuable player.
