Mississippi State Upsets LSU In Game One

The Mississippi State Bulldogs took down the second ranked Louisiana State Tigers in game one. Let's recap the first game of this three game series.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs took down the second ranked Louisiana State Tigers in game one of this three game series. This game ended 10-4 in the Bulldogs favor.

Evan Siary got the start for the Bulldogs and had a decent start. In three innings on the mound, Siary struck out one batter and allowed five hits, two walks, and three earned runs.

Nolan Stevens got the win out of the bullpen for the Bulldogs. In 5.2 innings pitched, Stevens struck out eight batters and gave up one hit, two walks, and one earned run.

Luke Holman got the start for the Tigers and struggled. Before this game, Holman was lights out as he had not allowed a single run. In 4.2 innings, Holman struck out three batters and gave up ten hits, one walk, and five total runs. This gave him the loss, making his record 4-1.

The scoring began in the second inning as Amani Larry hit a run scoring single to make it 1-0 for the Bulldogs.

In the third inning, the Tigers would hit two home runs to give themselves a 3-1 lead. Josh Pearson hit a solo home run to tie it and then Tommy White hit a go ahead two run homer.

The Bulldogs got one back as Aaron Downs hits a run scoring single in the bottom half of the third.

The Bulldogs continued to explode offensively as in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings, they scored eight runs. In the fifth, Hunter Hines tied the game with a solo homerun. Shortly after, Logan Kohler and Johnny Long both drove in runs to make it 5-3.

Connor Hujsak hit a run scoring single to increase the lead to 6-3. Then in the eighth, Hunter Hines hits a three run homer, his second of the game. Logan Kohler also got a run scoring single after this homer.

Josh Pearson hit in Michael Braswell to make it 10-4 before the game ended. This win gives Mississippi State a record of 14-5 and LSU falls to 16-3.
