The Missouri Tigers opened up this week with a victory over the UT Martin Skyhawks. This is game one of a two game midweek series.

Daniel Wissler got the start for the Tigers and had a solid outing. In four innings of work, Wissler struck out six batters and allowed four hits, two walks, and three earned runs.

Lucas Brock and Jacob Peaden both threw two scoreless innings out of the pen. Brock got the win and struck three.

Choyce Diffey got the start for the Skyhawks and struggled. In three innings of work, Diffey struck out one batter and gave up six hits, two walks, and five earned runs. This gave him the loss to make his record on the season 2-3.

UT Martin got on the board quickly in the first inning with a run scoring fielders choice by Mac Danford. Missouri responded in the bottom half of the first with a double steal to score a run and then a staight steal to third with a throwing error to score another. This made the score 2-1.

In the third inning, Missouri hit three singles that each drove in runs. They were hit by Trevor Austin, Brock Daniels, and Matt Garcia. This made the score 5-1.

UT Martin hit two home runs in the fourth inning from Andrew Fernandez and Blaze Bell. In the fifth, Missouri got both of those runs back from a sacrifice fly-out from Brock Daniels and a run scoring single from Matt Garcia.

In the sixth and seventh innings, Jackson Beaman and Brock Daniels each hit a solo home run to make the score 10-3.

In the eighth inning, Missouri added three more runs off a run scoring walk by Jackson Beaman, a sacrifice fly-out from Brock Daniels, and a run scoring single by Matt Garcia.

That gave Missouri a mercy rule victory over UT Martin with a final score of 13-3. This improved the Tigers record to 11-18 and made the Skyhawks record 11-18.
