NCAA Tournament Predictions for each SEC Team

In this article, I predict how far each of the eight SEC teams will make it in the NCAA Tournament. Whether it be the regular season SEC champion Tennessee Volunteers led by Dalton Knecht, or the up-start South Carolina Gamecocks, an eight bid league bodes well for some, and not for others.

Mississippi State Bulldogs (8 Seed) – Much like South Carolina, the Bulldogs were another team picked to finish towards the bottom of the SEC.

Second year Head Coach Chris Jans is changing the conversation around Starkville, leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back 21 win seasons since his arrival in 2022.

Last year, the Bulldogs lost in the “first four” round of the tournament. Expect this experienced bunch to make a much deeper run in 2024 as Jans is no rookie to the NCAA Tournament having made four appearances in five seasons as the head coach of the New Mexico State Aggies.

Coaching and player experience in the tournament could prove paramount for the Bulldogs who will also come in with very low expectations nationally, which will help them to go out and player their game.

Look for the Bulldogs to make a run to the Sweet 16.

Florida Gators (7 Seed) – In only his second season, Head Coach Todd Golden has led the Gators to a 24-11 record and an appearance in the SEC Tournament final before falling flat against the Auburn Tigers and his mentor, Bruce Pearl.

Despite a strong season, the Gator just lost strong rebounding presence in sophomore Center, Micah Handlogten to a broken leg in the SEC Championship game.

For a team that is already struggling on defense this season, look for the struggles to continue and a first round exit for the Gators.
