Nick Saban's best moments from SEC Media Days
Nick Saban was all the talk during SEC Media Days. The odd thing is he arguably had more hype this go around than he did any season he was the head coach. Now that he is retired, fans and media seemed to be clamoring even more than usual on what he would say and do throughout the four day event. And Saban did not disappoint, delivering some great moments and comments.
What were Nick Saban’s best moments during SEC Media Days?
Nick Saban forgets his media credentials
Saban did not wait long to make headlines, forgetting his media credentials in his hotel room at the Omni Dallas Hotel as he tried to enter the event. Security reportedly halted Saban’s entrance and he diverted back to his room to obtain the precious credentials that apparently a seven-time national championship coach cannot even get in without.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey had some fun with the hiccup stating, “we teach those lessons quickly.”
Nick Saban picks Georgia to win the SEC
This is a fact. And I do not believe Saban thinks this for one second. After all, the former head coach of the Crimson Tide is still employed with the school as an Advisor and has an office inside of Bryant-Denny stadium.
I think it is safe to say that in secret Saban is trying to fuel the Tide to propel them to another successful season under first year head coach Kalen DeBoer.
In the past, Saban has been on the alert for what he deems as “rat poison,” when it comes to his team being praised before having proven anything. With that being said, Saban would be contradicting himself if he picked the Crimson Tide to win the SEC.
Nick Saban's thoughts on the Texas Longhorns in the SEC
Saban may have secretly wanted to give a “horns down” given his comments on the Texas Longhorns and their head coach and former assistant of Saban Steve Sarkisian.
“They aren’t going to run the SEC,” Saban said when comparing it to the Longhorns’ time in the Big 12. Although the Longhorns do not have one of the tougher schedules in the SEC, many fans feel the same as Saban does in that the SEC is a week to week grind, unlike other conferences.
