Predicting Who Every SEC Team's Highest Drafted Player Will Be in the 2024 NFL Draft

We are about to head into one of the best weekends of the year, the NFL Draft. As usual, the SEC is expected to have a dominant showing. I decided to take a look at who I believe will be the first player off the board from every SEC school.

Texas A&M - LB Edgerrin Cooper

Edgerrin Cooper emerged as one of the best linebackers in the nation in 2023 with 84 tackles, 8 sacks, and 17 TFL to go along with 2 PBU's, 2 Forced Fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Cooper measured in at 6'2, 230 pounds at the Combine while running a 4.51 40 yard dash.

For his career, Cooper has totals of 205 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 30.5 TFL, 2 INT's, 8 PBU's, 3 Forced Fumbles, and 2 Fumble Recoveries. I expect Cooper to be a 2nd round pick, likely in the first half of the round (picks 33-50).

Vanderbilt - P Matthew Hayball

Matthew Hayball is one of the top punters in the draft after he averaged 47.6 yards per punt (5th nationally) last year on 57 punts. He put 24 punts inside the 20, had 21 punts of over 50 yards, and only had 4 touchbacks.

Hayball has career totals (3 years at FAU, 2 at Vandy) of 45.2 yards per punt on 289 punts. I expect Hayball to either be a 7th round pick or an Undrafted Free Agent.
