Number 9, University of Tennessee

Coming in at number nine is the Tennessee Volunteers. Last season, the Volunteers finished fourth in the east side of the Southeastern Conference with a record of 44-22 while going 16-14 in conference play.

The Volunteers are coming off a solid season after making it to the Elite Eight in the Mens College World Series Tournament. They lost twice in that tournament to the eventual national champions, LSU. MLB Pipeline has four of their players as top 100 prospects in this years draft.

The highest ranked player for Tennessee is right- handed pitcher Drew Beam. Beam is a top three pitcher in the SEC this year after having a very good sophomore season. Last season, Beam posted a 3.63 earned run average in 84.1 innings pitched with 88 strikeouts.

Offensively, the Volunteers are loaded with talent. They return starting shortstop, Christian Moore, who is ranked as the 67th best prospect according to MLB Pipeline. A year ago, Moore had a batting average of .304 with 17 home runs and 50 runs batted in. He also had an impressive 1.047 OPS.

In the transfer portal, the Volunteers were able to pick up third baseman Billy Amick from Clemson University. The first team All-American is ranked as the 50th best prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Last season, Amick batted .413 with 13 home runs and 63 runs batted in. He also had an insane OPS of 1.236.

Tennessee is looking good heading into 2024. With talented hitters like Moore and Amick, the Volunteers will be able to battle Florida and Vanderbilt for the SEC East title.
