Previewing the SEC Teams Inside the Top 25

The Louisiana State Tigers are ranked fourth to begin the season after earning a College World Series title. Last season, the Tigers finished with a record of 54-17 while going 19-10 in conference play. This record put them in to second place in the west side of the Southeastern Conference.
After their championship victory, the Tigers lost 13 players to the Major League Draft. This year, they once again have a strong rotation and lineup.
The Tigers are returning the best third baseman in college baseball, Tommy White. White is ranked as the seventh best prospect for this years Major League Draft. Last season, White had a batting average of .374 with 24 home runs and 105 runs batted in.
Another bat returning to the Tigers lineup is first baseman, Jared Jones. Last year, Jones was a part of an impressive freshman class. In his freshman season, Jones batted .304 with 14 home runs and 45 runs batted in. He also was awarded of his success by being named to the Freshman All-SEC Team.
LSU has a very strong rotation this season as three pitchers landed inside of MLB Pipelines top 50 prospects. Luke Holman is the 35th ranked prospect after transferring from Alabama. Last season, Holman posted a 3.67 earned run average in 81 innings pitched with 87 strikeouts.
The Tigers return a good team with multiple ranked transfers coming in. LSU will be looking to defend their title and win back-to-back College World Series championships.
