Ranking the Best Live Mascots of the SEC

With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, there will now be 10 live mascots in the SEC in 2024. While some of these mascots are large and initimidating, others are smaller and and take on more of a cuter appearance. Regardless, there are shapes and sizes of every SEC fans preference. In this article, I provide my rankings of my favorite live SEC mascots.

Mascots and pageantry are big parts of what make college football what it is. In the SEC, there will be 10 live mascots amongst the 16 schools.

Whether it be one of the more known mascots in “Uga” at the University of Georgia, or one of the lesser known mascots in Oklahoma, “Boomer and Sooner,” these 10 live mascots will undoubtedly be seen on your tv screen this fall.

If you’re lucky enough to go to an SEC game of one of these cute mascots in person, you’ll need to make sure to pay them a visit as they are usually pretty accessible to fans to at least see from a distance.

Here I rank the live SEC Mascots in order of my Least Favorite to Most

10. Mike the Tiger, LSU

Mike the Tiger is a Siberian-Bengal tiger that has a large enclosure than can be seen right on in the heart of campus where he lives each day of the year in Baton Rouge.

On gamedays, Mike enters the stadium in a cage and is quite the hair-raising experience for all fans. Seeing a large, intimidating animal like this is quite the spectacle.

9. Bevo, Texas

Bevo just is not that cute to me- sorry Longhorn fans!

Bevo is a Texas Longhorn steer who has been taking the sideline for decades and striking fear in opponents. And well- yes, Georgia Bulldogs mascot UGA as well.

The two mascots had a well-known altercation a few years ago in which Bevo seemed to not be too enthused that UGA was broaching on his territory at the 2019 Sugar Bowl as you can see in the clip above. And Bevo let it be known.
