The best quarterbacks at any position are easy to name typically, let alone quarterback in one of the most popular and best conferences in college football. 3. Tyler Buchner (2023, Alabama)

The Crimson Tide were struggling to find an identity it seems in the first half of the 2023 season. It got so bad in Tuscaloosa that quarterbacks Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson seemed to be questionable as the long-term solution for the Tide based on spring practice going into the 2023 season, that new Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees took to the transfer portal bringing in his former Notre Dame quarterback, Tyler Buchner.

After Milroe and the Tide lost to the Texas Longhorns in week two in Tuscaloosa, Buchner would get his chance as the starter against the USF Bulls the following week in what the Tide and their fans presumed would be a bounce back game. Well, it was not so. Although weather was a factor, nonetheless when you are Alabama, you should not be tied 3-3 with a group of five school at halftime.

Buchner, who started the game for the Tide went 5-for-14 and only 34 yards, looking abysmal in his chance with the Tide. To Tide fans, this proved why it was the wrong decision from the start and why he was relegated to the backup role at Notre Dame, although injuries had a part as well.

Fast forward to the 2024 off season and Buchner has transferred back to Notre Dame, but this time to play lacrosse.

Buchner was suppose to be way better off than that on the football field as On3 had him ranked as the 93rd prospect nationally and the 13 best quarterback in the 2021 high school recruiting rankings.
