SEC Baseball Player of the Year Award Power Rankings
2. 1B/LHP Jac Caglianone (Florida)
last week's ranking: 2
Crazily enough, we might be at the point where what Caglianone is doing on the mound is more impressive than what he's doing at the plate (which is crazy because he is one of the conference's top hitters).
Last week at the plate, Cags was 5-of-17 with 4 HR, 6 RBI, and 5 runs scored. On the mound, he picked up the win on Sunday as he went 7 innings with just 1 ER, 5 K's, and 5 walks as Florida picked up the big series win over LSU.
For the season, Caglianone is now hitting 394 (fifth best in the SEC) with a .474 OBP and a .737 SLG% (1.211 OPS) to go along with 11 HR, one double, 24 RBI, and 27 runs scored.
On the mound, he has a 3-0 record with a 1.65 ERA and 39:18 K/BB ratio while opposing hitters are hitting just .130 against him (second best in the SEC) in 27 1/3 IP across 5 starts. Cags and the Gators will take on Mississippi State this weekend.
1. 3B/OF Charlie Condon (Georgia)
last week's ranking: 1
It was a big bounce-back weekend for Georgia as they swept Alabama, and a big reason for that was another absurd week from Charlie Condon to continue his absurd season. On the week, Condon went 8-of-16 at the plate with 4 HR, one double, 8 RBI, and 7 runs scored.
On the season, Condon now leads the entire NATION in Home Runs (17), Batting Average (.517), On-base Percentage (.637), Slugging Percentage (1.213), OPS (1.850), hits (47), and total bases (108).
He also has 9 doubles, one triple, 37 RBI, and 39 runs scored on the year. Condon's RBI and runs numbers are both good for second in the SEC. This weekend, Condon and the Dawgs will take on Tennessee.
