SEC Baseball Tournament Day One Preview
By Baron Dionis
#7 Alabama vs #10 South Carolina
The second game of the tournament will be between the 7th seeded Alabama Crimson Tide and the 10th seeded South Carolina Gamecocks. First pitch of this game will be shortly after the Georgia vs LSU game and will be televised on SEC Network.
These two teams faced off in March. Alabama won two out of three against South Carolina in this series. Both teams are very similar with decent offenses and average pitching staffs.
Ty Good has been the best pitcher for the Gamecocks this season in multiple roles. He started last Thursday against Tennessee, so he should start in game one. This season, Good has a 5-2 record with a 4.01 earned run average in 51.2 innings pitched and has struck out 67 batters.
Greg Farone is the ace for the Crimson Tide and should start in game one. This season, Farone has a 4-3 record with an earned run average of 4.27 earned run average in 65.1 innings pitched and has struck out 61 batters.
This game is another even matchup and could go either way. Both teams have decent offenses and could win this game.
The winner of this game will take on Arkansas on Wednesday.
