#5 Mississippi State vs #12 Ole Miss

The last game of day one of the tournament will be between the 5th seeded Mississippi State Bulldogs and the 12th seeded Ole Miss Rebels. First pitch will be shortly after the Vanderbilt and Florida game on SEC Network plus.

These two teams played four times in 2024 and split the series at two wins each. Mississippi State has been the better team this year with pitching and offense.

Mississippi State should send out Khal Stephen to pitch game one. This season, Stephen has an 8-3 record with an earned run average of 3.25 in 83 innings pitched and has struck out 93 batters.

Ole Miss should send out Riley Maddox to pitch game one. Maddox has struggled this year, with a 2-7 record with a 6.88 earned run average in 51 innings pitched and has struck out 36 batters.

Mississippi State is the clear favorite for this game, but Ole Miss has beaten them twice already this year. It should be a good game to conclude the first night of the SEC Tournament.

The winner of this game will play Texas A&M on Wednesday.
