SEC basketball is in full swing. Teams are rounding into form, or they are not. We are quickly finding out who the players in the SEC will be this year. One of the most surprising teams that has faltered so far is the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs made the elite eight two of the last three seasons under head coach Eric Musselman, but have had a rough start to the season currently sitting at 10-7.

The Vanderbilt Commodores are another team that is struggling fifth year head coach Jerry Stackhouse with a 5-12 start. This comes off of a 22-15 campaign in which Stackhouse appeared to have the program trending in the right direction.

Teams that should not be a surprise that sit near the top of the SEC standings right now would be Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Although early, here are some teams that look to be outperforming their expectations going into the season that could be forces to reckon with come tournament time:

Auburn BB. . . 4. . 525. . . .

Auburn Tigers- This team should not be in the “overperforming” category, right? Especially with Bruce Pearl as their head coach. On the surface, no. However, the pre-season rankings did not even have the Tigers in the top 25. They now sit at 16-3 overall and tied for first with Alabama in the SEC with a 5-1 mark in conference play.
