Ole Miss Rebels- Former Texas Tech Red Raiders and Texas Longhorns head coach Chris Beard came into Oxford to take over as head coach this season with an overall head coaching record of 171-73, which equates to a 70% winning percentage.
Somewhat surprisingly, Beard has the Rebels off to a 15-2 start in his first season at the school, which equates to an 88% winning percentage to this point. Beard’s Rebels tied the record for best start in the school’s history, starting 13-0.
More impressively, three of the four seasons before Beard arrived were losing seasons, with the only winning season coming in 2021 with a 16-12 campaign. Beard and the Rebels are only halfway through the season, and are already only one win shy of matching that 16-win total. Watch out for the Rebels to be a contender come tournament time.
