By Matt Melton
A day that was loaded with commitments and flips across the conference, here are three SEC football winners from Wednesday's Early Signing Day, beginning with the first winner.
3 biggest SEC football winners from Early Signing Day
3. Auburn Tigers
We begin with the Auburn Tigers, who had three notable takeaways from Wednesday's Early Signing Day.
Arguably the biggest of those two takeaways came via Perry Thompson, who stayed committed to the Tigers over in-state rival Alabama. A five-star wide receiver out of in-state Foley High School in Alabama, Thompson had previously been committed to Alabama prior to flipping to the Tigers back in July of 2023, and opted-to stay with Auburn on Early Signing Day instead of flipping back to the Crimson Tide.
The Tigers also flipped Amaris Williams in a big win for Hugh Freeze and Co. on the defensive side of the ball. Williams is a four-star defensive lineman out of Clinton High School in North Carolina where he is the state's top player, and had previously been committed to Florida since June of 2023.
Auburn's final takeaway Wednesday was landing an uncommitted prospect in Favour Edwin. Edwin is rated as a three-star offensive tackle out of Eagles Landing Christian Academy in Georgia.
